DURHAM, NC – Chemtek, Inc., a family-owned, American-made manufacturer of industrial and specialty chemical products, marks its 50th anniversary today. What began in 1976 as one person working from a kitchen counter has grown into a company shipping more than 26,000 orders each year to customers across the United States and around the world.
Founded and led by President and CEO David Rigsbee, Chemtek has built its reputation on solving problems other companies overlooked — from pioneering non-destructive runway cleaning technology adopted by the U.S. Air Force, to patenting the first all-natural asphalt release agent to replace diesel fuel on job sites, now sold under the company’s PavePro brand. Chemtek holds multiple patents and has advised research efforts for NASA, the Air Force, and transportation agencies worldwide, while remaining a privately held, family-run business headquartered in Durham, North Carolina.
