Chemtek Welcomes Retired Brigadier General to Specialize in Airfield Government Contracts
MORRISVILLE, NC – October 15, 2019 – New hire Richard J. Torres was hired as Director of Government Sales and Operations at Chemtek. Torres brings both aviation experience and military expertise, as well as a corporate background to Chemtek’s airfield maintenance operations. The AMS (Airfield Maintenance Services) division leverages years of experience to provide turnkey airport runway services including rubber removal, paint removal, striping, friction testing, and more.
Torres has spent the last 38 years in the military. During that time he led troops at all levels and served our country overseas and in a variety of senior positions as a General Officer. BG(R) Torres was branched as an Army Aviator, and his experience as a pilot and understanding of military airfields brings unique qualification to his role with Chemtek. Transitioning into civilian life, Torres honed his corporate experience within the software industry focusing on organizational behavior and process improvement to support efficiency and repeatability. His corporate roles and military experience have contributed to cross-functional collaboration that has led to effective organizations and customer success.
Torres’ unique blend of experience in both military and corporate environments complement each other well. In his new position at Chemtek, he is looking forward to using his leadership and decision-making skills derived from the military, combined with his sense of efficiency and asset management from business.

Torres completed his undergraduate degree at East Carolina University, MBA from Webster Vienna, and Masters in Strategic Studies from US Army War College.
